Javier Marín was born in Michoacan, Mexico in 1962. He studied at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas Academia de San Carlos (UNAM) from 1980-1983. In his work, Marín employs the human figure as the basis for his artistic expression and grapples with themes such as the fragile nature of human existence, the degradation of beauty and the beauty of dignified suffering.
